School COVID-19 Outbreak Reporting
Beginning on Monday, September 14, 2020 the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) started reporting outbreak information by school building. Data will be collected from 45 health departments across the state each week. A COVID-19 outbreak is defined as two or more cases with a link by place and time indicating a shared exposure outside of a household. MDHHS will continue to update this report on Mondays.

Reporting of Confirmed and Probable COVID-19 Cases at Schools
On October 6, 2020, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued an Emergency Order requiring K-12 schools to provide public notice to the school community about probable and confirmed cases of COVID-19 within 24 hours.
The order requires local health departments to notify schools within 24 hours of learning of a probable or confirmed school-associated case of COVID-19. Upon notification, schools must provide public notification on a highly visible location on the school’s website that covers the impacted building or location within 24 hours. This Emergency Order goes into effect on Monday, October 12.

Guidelines for Safe Child Care Operations During COVID-19
On February 4, 2022, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs issued Guidelines for Safe Child Care Operations During COVID-19 that are intended for use in licensed child care and school-age enrichment programs. The guidelines provide tools to help child care providers make the best decisions possible to limit the spread of COVID-19 and to create safe spaces for children and staff members.
